Nissan 370Z 40th Anniversary Edition

Nissan just unveiled the first photos of its new limited-edition 370Z that marks 40 years since the original Datsun 240Z hit the street in October 1969. The asking price in 1969? Only $3626 for the base model.

The 40th Anniversary Edition Z, is offered as a Coupe Touring model, equipped with a manual transmission and Sport Package. The Sport Package includes front and rear spoilers, Nissan Sport Brakes, 19-in. Rays forged aluminum-alloy wheels, a viscous limited-slip differential and Nissan’s proprietary SynchroRev Match transmission technology.

Cosworth Impreza STI CS400 Subaru

The new Cosworth Impreza STI CS400 is the first genuine Cosworth-developed road car since 1996. All we can say is, it’s been worth the wait!

The Cosworth-tuned, 2.5litre turbocharged Boxer engine now pumps out 395bhp (or 400PS – hence the 400 bit in CS400) and 400 lb-ft of torque. This results in 0-62mph in just 3.7secs, a quarter mile time of just 12.75secs (at a terminal speed of 107 mph) and a limited top speed of 155mph.

Engine mods include an all-new Cosworth turbocharging system, re-mapped ECU, new pistons, forged con-rods, plus a custom exhaust system.

To handle the increased power of the Cosworth-tuned engine, the Impreza STI’s six-speed manual transmission has carbon synchromesh applied to the top three ratios and a short throw linkage for quicker shifting. Plus there’s also an upgraded single-plate clutch with a revised pressure plate, bearing and disc. The gearbox and final drive ratios are unchanged.

Other mods include special Eibach coil springs and new Bilstein inserts (ride also reduced by 10mm), 355mm ventilated front discs with AP racing six-pot callipers, and 18×8.5in ‘Pro Race’ Team Dynamics rims finished in anthracite.

Available in a choice of three colours (Spark Silver, Dark Grey and San Remo Red), the Cosworth Impreza STI CS400 comes with Xenon headlights as standard, a new shape front bumper, new fog lights, upper and lower mesh grilles and a new rear spoiler.

Sadly, only 75 of these Cosby/Scoobworth creations are going to hit our roads, but discreet Cosworth badging carried on the lower grille, front seats, brake callipers and floor mats will let those in the know, er, know, what you’re rolling in, plus, your £49,995 gets you individually numbered plaques fitted on the engine and door sills and a numbered certificate of authenticity.

Pontiac Brand is Alive and Well in Enthusiast Hearts

CARLISLE, PA – Despite the announcement in April of last year that GM would phase out the Pontiac brand as part of restructuring efforts, enthusiasts at the upcoming Carlisle GM Nationals will still be celebrating the vehicles they cherish - even showcasing four Pontiac inspired new concept cars. The Carlisle GM Nationals to be held June 24-26 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds is one of the largest and most exciting all-GM events in the world that celebrates not only Pontiacs but all vehicles produced by General Motors.

Of the over 1,500 specialty, classic and performance GM cars, trucks and SUVs expected on the National Parts Depot showfield, four Pontiac-inspired concept cars will stand out as unique visionaries of what could have been:

FIREBREATHER
FireBreather is an incredible 2010 Pontiac Firebird concept car, built to star in the upcoming science-fiction film Jinn. Beautifully designed by Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad, writer and director of the film, in conjunction with Exodus Pictures and Classic Design Concepts, this breathtaking Camaro-based creation will stop you in your tracks. Classic Design Concepts reports they plan to produce and sell limited editions of Firebreather starting under $60,000.

LINGENFELTER 2010 TRANS AM CONCEPT CARS
Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, a world-renowned high-performance manufacturer, built two Trans Am concept cars off of a 2010 Camaro SS frame, powered by a LS based 455 CID engine that produces 655 horsepower and 610 lbs ft. of torque. Lingenfelter’s custom Trans Ams were built around the classic ’71 Trans Am interior and exterior theme with two color combinations, both of which will be on display at the GM Nationals.

TRANS AM DEPOT 2010 TRANS AM
Inspired by the original Camaro-based Trans AM from 1977 and 1978, the Trans AM Depot 2010 Trans AM will be on display in the Pontiac Pavilion at the Carlisle GM Nationals. Originally unveiled under the name the Phoenix TA, Trans AM Depot recently acquired the rights to the “Trans Am” for the conversion package that takes at 2010 Chevrolet Camaro to full-blown custom Pontiac throw-back. The conversion package, designed by Kevin Morgan, includes a lowering package, sway bar upgrade, a custom wheel package, the one-of-a-kind Trans AM graphics package and much more.

Enthusiasts of the classic Pontiacs will have a gathering of their own during the GM Nationals at the Pontiac Pavilion. The Pontiac Pavilion, presented by Pontiac Enthusiast Magazine, will be the headquarters for the Pontiac celebration, featuring the magazine’s cover and feature cars. The Pontiac Pavilion will also act as home base for special guests from the Pontiac world, including Jim Wangers with the GeeTO Tiger. Wangers, known as the “Godfather of the GTO” didn’t create the GTO, but he certainly was responsible for building the mystique that surrounds the legendary Pontiac. Also known as the “ad-man” for Pontiac, Wangers is credited with helping to establish the muscle car era of the ‘60s and being the key marketer behind the GTO and several other Pontiac specialty vehicles.

In addition to the Pontiac celebrations, the Carlisle GM Nationals will feature indoor displays of concepts, customs, performance and historically significant vehicles; test drives from GM; drag racing on Friday night for all skill levels; burnout competition; club gatherings and giveaway drawings for a vehicle and engine. The excitement continues with a shopping experience that is second to none, including a swap meet with a wide variety of vendors, an all-GM car corral and the Manufacturers Midway – featuring top names in restoration, aftermarket, custom and performance manufacturers.

2011 Lotus Elise SC and Exige S RGB (Roger Becker) Special Editions

Former director of engineering Roger Becker, who retired this January, is Lotus’ inspiration behind the release of its two new special editions of its Elise and Exige models this September.

Sports and Touring packs are fitted on these two models as standard. Buyers can choose from four
available colors: Aspen White, Starlight Black, Solar Yellow & Carbon Grey. Each vehicle will be recognized by a numbered interior plaque. Roger Becker’s signature can be viewed from the side of the vehicles’ body and on the Lotus nose badge. The Elise SC RGB is powered by a supercharged 1.8l engine, which delivers 217 hp and enables the car to accelerate from zero to 60mph in 4.3 seconds.

Powering the Exige S RGB is a supercharged/intercooled engine Exige S RGB of the same displacement, producing 257 hp and pushing the vehicle to run from zero to 60 mph in 4 seconds.

In a statement, Becker said that he is “honored” for Lotus naming its two special editions after him, “especially as it allows [him] to offer the customer [his] favorite specifications.” He talked about the past 44 years as having been “an incredible journey.”

He said, “I’m looking forward to watching Lotus progress in the future, I have no doubt that the company will continue to go from strength to strength.” With the release of these two models, Lotus will retire the 1.8l engine supplied by Toyota because of emission regulations limits. What this indicates is that the Elise R, Elise SC, Exige S and Exige Cup 260 will no longer be available in Europe.
