Chicago is known as the city that works and in keeping with that reputation, this year’s auto show had a heavy emphasis on trucks, with introductions aimed at both professional and personal use. From heavy-duty pickups to people-hauling minivans, there are plenty of new products aimed at tapping existing markets as well as opening new segments.

Kia Motors America took the wraps off the Ray concept at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show today. Not only does the show car reveal Kia’s sportier styling direction, but the Ray plug-in hybrid sedan is further proof that Kia is making strides with its EcoDynamics sub-brand, the goal of which is to “develop innovative fuel-stretching and emissions-cutting technologies.” Kia says the Ray concept “demonstrates a prospective plug-in hybrid vehicle configuration.
